Abstract : Using the quantum hydrodynamic (QHD) model both the linear and nonlinear behavior of ion-acoustic waves in quantum plasma have been studied including electron inertia, ion-streaming and quantum diffraction effects. Some of the wave modes are shown to be linearly unstable and growth rate of such instability depends significantly on ion-streaming motion, electron inertia and quantum diffraction effects. Nonlinear analysis shows that the profile of the ion-acoustic KdV solitons also depends significantly on these plasma parameters. The importance of the result has also been pointed out.
